EH&S Specialist Environmental & Regulatory Affairs   

Our client a major Energy Corporation is seeking a talented individual for the position of EHS Specialist – Environmental & Regulatory Affairs – Unconventional Resource Plays. This Company is one of the largest producers of natural gas in the nation and the most active driller of new wells in the U.S.  Their strategy is focused on discovering, acquiring and developing conventional and unconventional natural gas reserves onshore in the U.S., primarily in the Barnett Shale of north-central Texas, the Haynesville Shale of East Texas and northwestern Louisiana, the Fayetteville Shale of central Arkansas and the Marcellus Shale of the northern Appalachian Basin.  

This position is based in Fort Worth, TX and will report to the EH&S Manager – Environmental Programs.  

Excellent Total Compensation Package including full relocation will be offered to the selected candidate!

 The EHS Specialist should have the ability to demonstrate full technical competence related to environmental and regulatory affairs associated with the exploration, production, drilling, gas processing, and oil and gas service industry, and the ability to recognize and appropriately address any environmental issue related to an assigned area of business.  

In addition, the responsibilities and duties include:

  • Planning and conducting assignments; solving complex problems and generating opportunities to enhance environmental performance and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Representing the company at local industry and agency meetings and hearings.
  • Understanding environmental and regulatory requirements and planning assignments independently or with support of Corporate staff specialist
  • Acting as the project leader for certain assignments or as support staff for larger complex projects.
  • Formulating and promoting sound and cost effective recommendations which support business objectives.
  • Providing technical guidance to the company on complex environmental and regulatory issues.
  • Assisting and guiding the work of Corporate Development, Public Affairs, and Operations on local environmental and regulatory matters
  • Representing  the company in local industry trade associations, councils, and city and county/parish activities to promote the Company’s positions related to environmental and regulatory issues
  • Representing the company at local environmental and regulatory hearings and meetings
  • Supporting the implementation of applicable environmental and regulatory programs.
  • Supporting the investigation of environmental incidents.
  • May direct or manage EHS contractors or consultants.
  • Gathering and maintaining environmental data to compose reports and regulatory documents.
  • Participating in the EHS field review and training programs.
  • Travel to field locations. 

 Requirements:   Must have knowledge and/or technical environmental expertise in area of responsibility Understand existing regulatory requirements and demonstrate ability to effectively communicate the existing and new requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership ability Bachelor of Science Degree in Science or Engineering or at least 10 years of experience in field operations – preferably in oil and gas industry.
