Assume responsibility for the direction and management of all patient care services, to include laboratory and colposcopy areas. Interprets philosophy and objectives of services to staff members and other groups. Coordinates functions of the nursing staff with other disciplines, collaborates with the administrative staff and representatives of allied groups in planning services. Re-evaluates the system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports and proposes revisions. Act as primary nurse for antepartum and postpartum clients. Educate childbearing families regarding a variety of concerns including care of newborn, comfort measures, and family planning issues. Responsible for admission and daily assessment of newborns to the well-baby nursery.

 

Nurse Coordinator, Women’s Cancer Screening Grant Program   May, 1997 – July, 1998

                                               

Coordinate breast and cervical cancer screening programs at hospitals and clinics throughout County for medically underserved women. Follow up all suspicious findings and report results to the State Department of Health and Senior Services’ breast and cervical cancer control program. Create education materials and programs at a low literacy level emphasizing early detection of cancer. Responsible for program budget of $120,000 and supervision of staff. Awarded additional grant funds through the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for education and outreach supplies.
