Large Healthcare Facility March 2004 - April 2006 Radiation Therapy Supervisor Manage department consisting of two linear accelerators, simulation, CT, and HDR equipment. Direct supervision over radiation therapists, nursing, and office staff. Instrumental in hiring three FTEs, replacing locums of more than three years. Eliminated overtime averaging twenty-five hours per week. Raised departmental standards to achieve the 100 % Patient Satisfaction. Commendation for the forth quarter of 2005 and first quarter of 2006. Large Teaching Hosptial March 1994-December 2001 Staff Radiation Therapist February 2003-February 2004
Responsible for patient treatment, chart recording, scheduling and billing in respect to ICD 9 codes and Medicare reimbursement. Developed a quality assurance program to prevent late starts for new patients. Gathered and charted information over a two-year period, 1997 to 1999, pinpointing problem areas and suggested changes for implementation. Composed the policy and procedure manual for the cerrobend mold room. Radiology Staffing Company March 2002 - January 2003 Locum Tenens Radiation Therapist Served as temporary placement staff therapist, allowing time for my educational pursuit and a broader knowledge of current treatment modalities. Assisted Tim Ochran, Ph.D., with the installation and implementation of NOMOS IMRT at the Paris Cancer Center, Paris Texas. Trained with staff therapists on BAT ultrasound in conjunction with IMRT at St. Joseph Cristus Hospital, Bryan Texas. Introduced to Virtual Sim, MLC and Varis record and verify at El Paso Cancer Center, El Paso Texas. Large Healthcare Facility October 1992 - June 1996 Radiologic Technologist Performed radiologic exams and procedures as a part-time technologist while studying radiation therapy at Large Cancer Center. Continued part-time employment upon graduation and placement at Large Teaching Hospital, focusing on emergency room radiologic procedures. Radiation Therapy Supervisor Oversee treatment and all ancillary areas of department to insure maximum efficiency. Monitor productive hours versus target ratio. Work closely with Radiation Oncologists and physicist to prioritize new patient start dates. Outline employee schedules, call, and vacation. Interview and hire new personnel, submit 90-day evaluation. Initiate employee conference and implement disciplinary action when required. Schedule and record preventive maintenance for all equipment. Monitor daily QA procedures; report to physics. Requisition materials from corporate and non-corporate vendors. Review all port films and ultrasound scans. Evaluate patient chart, treatment plan, and R&V prior to new start; correct discrepancies. Select and compile brief history of new patients for weekly chart rounds. Initiate service recovery for patient satisfaction. Staff Therapist Linear accelerator warm-up, beam measurement and calculation for QA. Simulation of treatment field. Dose calculation for emergent patients. Cerrobend block fabrication and verification. Scheduling of patient treatment and simulation. Weekly check of treatment charts.
